This feather-shaped tattoo was requested by Douglas to represent the union with his two daughters.
Their initials are incorporated into the braids on the sides of the spear heads to symbolize how their union gives him the strength to face any adversity (the path of Kamehameha in front).
Their presence also brings him joy, represented by the sun that includes an ani ata motif for ancestors and flax leaves for family.
The manta on the top left contains the gemini symbols and shark teeth are for protection, strength and adaptability while an octopus tentacle symbolizes adaptability and tenacity.
