This turtle symbolizes a newborn baby (the central koru) in the family (the turtle), with a sun enclosing it to symbolize the joy this new life will bring, and as a wish of happyness for her.

The turtle encloses a manta (beauty, freedom), whose wings are made of tikis, which will protect the new baby, and the back fins of the turtle are made of fish hooks, or matau, which symbolize wealth and abundance. The name of the baby, Offelia, is written on the turtle shell.
