This Polynesian tattoo of a manta ray was designed to go on Vasilii's shoulder blade, swimming toward the shoulder.
The turtle symbolizing family is central, with him represented as the hammerhead shark (a symbol of tenacity and determination) protecting it, and with spearheads for courage and strength.
He appears also inside the turtle leading the family (his wife and daughter), with braids and flax leaves embracing the three of them to symbolize family union through every change.
The frigate bird next to him symbolizes a higher perspective, and the turtle is surrounded by the sun for joy (shaped by mountains for stability) and by symbols of prosperity (fish and fish hook).
The ahuahu o Mataora symbolizes the steps to success on a difficult path, and is often used to represent physical ability and prowess.
The puhoro motif underlines his movement along the path, his achievements.
On the other wing of the manta, two versions of the teeth of taniwha bring protection, and so do the two tiki and the lizard.
