This feminine Polynesian tattoo spiraling along the arm was designed for Mariachiara and it represents the voyage of her life (the row of birds), along the path of Kamehameha (a path full of challenges) that finally led to joy and freedom (the sun and the manta).
The frigate bird going opposite to the other birds represents individuality and a new perspective, which brings peace (the flower of plumeria), a new positive start (the koru within the sun), and a new harmony and balance (the Marquesan cross within the manta), shared with other people (next to the flower).
This was achieved this step by step (the ahuahu o Mataora) with tenacity and adaptability (the hammerhead shark), strength and courage (the spearheads that shape the tail of the manta).
The tail itself and the hammerhead shark pattern together also form a double spiral, which is a symbol of unity and coming together.
Waves represent the sea, and change.
